Crapless craps
A craps game where the come-out can't lose. What changes, what 2, 3, 11, and 12 pay as points, and why crapless costs more than it looks.
Every PlayCraps table can switch to crapless craps, and PlayCraps Live plays a Crapless Hour every few hours. It sounds like a better deal. It isn’t, quite.
What changes
On the come-out roll, only a 7 wins, and nothing loses. There’s no craps: 2, 3, 11, and 12 become points, like 4 through 10. After that, the Pass Line works as usual: make the point before a 7.
Come bets work the same way. There are no Don’t bets and no Lay bets in crapless.
The new points
2, 3, 11, and 12 are hard to roll, so they pay well as Place bets and even better as Odds.
| Number | Place | Pass Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 11 to 2 | 6 to 1 |
| 3 | 11 to 4 | 3 to 1 |
| 11 | 11 to 4 | 3 to 1 |
| 12 | 11 to 2 | 6 to 1 |
The catch
You lose the easy come-out win on 11, and a point of 2 or 12 is very hard to make. Put together, the Pass Line’s house edge in crapless is 5.38%, compared with 1.41% in the classic game. Taking big Odds helps, since the Odds still have no edge.
Try it at your own table: pick Crapless in the table settings before you open it.
